FUSA Dance Festival

FUSA, A French-USA Dance Festival by Althea Dance company & Fondation des États-Unis

FUSA is the result of the encounter between Althea Dance Company and the Fondation des États-Unis (FEU). Together, they are creating a socially engaged Franco-American contemporary dance festival. The festival presents a choreographic vocabulary inspired by the crossing of two cultures who meet, nourish each other, and explore together. FUSA, by fostering creativity, promotes and reinforces the friendship between France and the US through movement. The festival offers the selected artists a performance opportunity to freely embody their creative expression.​

FUSA takes the form of a biennale: in 2024, it will take place in New York at Lamama Theater, on August 3rd, before returning to Paris in 2025.

Théa Bautista is a Franco-Mexican-American dancer and choreographer and is the founder of Althea Dance Company & co-founder of FUSA Dance Festival. Since 2018, Thea Bautista and her company have been welcomed as artists in residency at the Fondation des Etats-Unis (FEU) in Paris. Building on this partnership, she furthered her engagement and, in 2023, inaugurated the first edition of the FUSA Dance Festival (France-USA Dance Festival) in close collaboration with the FEU. Théa projects have been presented in France, the UK, Portugal, the United States, and Mexico.
